2015_Grey_Cup

There are a TON of things happening this weekend with the 103rd Grey Cup in Winnipeg. Some are free, some are not. Here’s what’s happening, how it will affect your weekend, and how to get there!

Grey Cup Festival Headquarters are in the RBC Convention Centre and is a totally free family event. There are things like:

  • Nissan strongman competition where you test your strength by swinging a sledgehammer
  • a Mark’s football obstacle course with a tackling sled, rope ladder, a machine for running backs that simulates breaking arm tackles, and a football throwing accuracy test
  • a Pepsi-Ruffles display, where you put on football equipment, and run through a simulated tunnel, out onto the field
  • Blue Bombers will be on hand for photographs and autographs.
  • A traveling exhibit of the Canadian Football League Hall of Fame with the football, autographed by the players, from the Winnipeg Blue Bombers first Grey Cup win in 1935 Grey Cup.

The HQ is open until Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The MacDon Fan Experience and Family Zone take over the University of Winnipeg ‘s Health and RecPlex, where fans can get their faces painted with their team’s colours, meet team mascots, football activities like kicking field goals, and being timed on the 40-yard dash. It’s open from 10 a.m to 8 p.m., and is free.

And, even though the Stampeders didn’t make the Grey Cup, they’re cooking up breakfast Saturday morning at the University of Winnipeg for a (late) pancake breakfast, between 11:30 – 1:30 PM.

Each of the teams from the CFL usually put on their own parties throughout the city too.
