Viva Mexico!

This week Ben, the ladies, and the entire production crew were off to Mexico! Last week Vegas, this week Mexico, being on The Bachelor is really tough work.

Not long after the girls arrived in Mexico, so did the first “date card” of the week. With tons of girls still without some one-on-one time with Ben, everyone was chomping at the bit to see who’s name would appear on the card. The single mother of two, and actually the only mom on the show, Amanda would get to spend some alone time with Ben in Mexico first!

In typical bachelor fashion, the two went on a hot air balloon ride. Which is definitely a date we’ve seen before, however this is season 20 of the show so expect to see a lot of recycled dates. Amanda and Ben sat on blanket in a field while watching the sun set. I’m a fan of Amanda, however I only have her going one more week in my Bachelor Bracket. I made this decision based solely on the fact that I didn’t think Ben would be ready for children nor did I think he would be able to handle her baggage. Baggage I knew nothing about. But as Amanda opened up to Ben last night, millions of people learned a lot more about her story I’m sure she gained a lot of new fans.

She told Ben about her marriage and what went wrong. She had her first daughter at 22 and married her husband 6 months later. I honestly had tears in my eyes (could have been the wine) when she told Ben about catching her husband texting and emailing his exes and meeting women on dating sites. Ben definitely appreciated Amanda opening up to him, though he probably wished she could have done it without using “like” as every second word but you can’t always get what you want, right? Yes, Amanda is a valley as they come but i’m a new fan of hers. She scored herself the date rose and is safe another week.

Next was the dreaded group date. Becca, Jubilee, “sex panther” (Ben’s words not mine) Caila, Emily, JoJo, Jennifer, Lauren B., and fan favorite (kidding, of course) Olivia would all get the pleasure of going out on the town with Ben. First he had the ladies attend Spanish lessons, which of course would play into the second part of the date…..cooking….in Spanish! Yes, the girls were put into groups of two and each given a different dish to prepare. They say that cooking is the way to a man’s heart and if that’s true…well….i’m basically screwed because I struggled while ordering pizza yesterday. I ordered the wrong pizza. I had one job and I was unsuccessful with it.

Getting back to The Bachelor, Olivia, the villain that she is, paired up with Ben for the cooking portion of the date  Which, if you ask me, was a very smart decision. Ladies, you’re on the show to date Ben, not make new friends. Why wouldn’t you choose Ben as a partner? Unfortunately Ben didn’t deliver in the cooking department and his presentation was pitiful. Jubilee and Lauren B would won the cooking contest, their prize? Nothing? Bragging rights?

BB Week 5 ladies

(Nine girls in the same kitchen and a single hair net to be found anywhere, go figure!)

During the cocktail party, Ben shocked us all by giving the date rose to Olivia. Honestly, once again could have been the wine but I was absolutely outraged.

The third date of the week, the one-on-one would go to Lauren H.. In case you completely forgot who Lauren H. was, she’s the other blonde Lauren and she’s a teacher. Her and Ben were given the great honor of walking the runaway during Mexican Fashion Week, which to be completely honest, I didn’t know existed. The date was fairly boring aside from the part where Lauren informed Ben that her last relationship lasted four year, that she lived with guy, and up out of nowhere one day he broke up with her. Which left me wondering, “do you have to have a terrible dating past consisting of complete jerks to get on this show?”

If you watch The Bachelor, which I’m positive you have at some point otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this, then you already know that every episode ends with a rose ceremony but every now and then Chris Harrison loves to throw us for a loop and ends the show on a cliff hanger. Last night was one of those nights. During the cocktail party, prior to the rose ceremony, Olivia told Amanda that she felt like this was an episode of Teen Mom. Yes. She actually said that. However, Teen Mom is an MTV reality show about teen mothers. Amanda was 22 when she had her first child, therefore not making her a teen. Twin Emily was the first to let Ben know about this, which created a domino effect of girls telling Ben how awful Olivia truly was.

Like I said, the episode is To Be Continued…..leaving us with a number of questions that need to be answered before Monday. Number one being; Can you take away a rose. And number two being; will Ben take away Olivia’s rose?

Chris Harrison, you really know how to keep a girl guessing. You have six days to stock the wine! And trust me, you’re gonna need it because next week’s episode is….you guessed it “the most dramatic episode yet!”
