Meet The Nintendo Switch

Super Mario, Link, and all your Nintendo friends are coming back…but the way you play with them will be a little different. The Nintendo Switch was unveiled today and it combines at-home and on-the-go gaming in one device!

What Is It?

Nintendo Switch looks like it could be one of the most versatile video game consoles that’s been released. Currently on the market, you can buy the Nintendo Wii U (home console) or the New Nintendo 3DS (portable console). While some games have been released on both of those consoles, the experience is not seamless. The Nintendo Switch seems to give you the same gameplay experience at home or anywhere you might be. The brains of the Switch is a tablet (which they’re calling the Switch Console) and it rests in a dock while you’re playing at home. When it’s time to leave, snap the Switch Console into the Joy Con Grip (their new controllers) and you can take the console with you and play on the go!

What Games Can I Play?

We already knew the upcoming Zelda title Breath of the Wild would be available on the new console. It also looks like we will see a Mario Game, Mario Kart, Splatoon, and more, though we don’t know what titles the console will launch with.  It does seem that games will be loaded on cartridges which means you’ll have faster load times and won’t use up hard drive space on your console as quickly. The release date will be sometime in March 2017. No specifics on price have been revealed.
