The Tao Chair might be the ultimate in laziness. Or maybe it’s the opposite? An invisible gym in your living room.

We’ve been hearing from doctors and magazines that sitting is going to be the death of us all. But we all come home from a long day sitting at our desks and plant ourselves on the couch or the computer and keep on sitting.

Enter the Tao Chair.

While sitting there, hour upon hour, day after day, you can use the Tao Chair to work out a bunch of different muscle groups using resistance or exercises related to isometrics — the science of applying pressure. You can do a variety of core exercises using the chair’s armrests. Depending on where you put your arms and legs, you can do curls, presses, and leg lifts. There’s even a screen in the arm that shows you how many calories you’ve burned while watching the latest season of House of Cards.

Now, even their website says that the “Tao doesn’t pretend that its chair will ever provide a full workout. You’ll still need to get up and maybe go outside to get some kind of full benefit. But it’s something.”

And it’s true. It is better than just sitting there in your recliner. So, if you can afford a chair that helps even a little bit, why wouldn’t you?

The Tao Chair is expected to hit the market this year.
