More zombies are coming to AMC!

There’s been rumours for a long while but it’s now official. AMC has ordered two six-episode seasons for a new Walking Dead companion series.

Robert Kirkman, who created The Walking Dead comics, co-wrote the pilot with Dave Erickson of Sons of Anarchy. They will be executive producers along with Walking Dead‘s Gale Anne Hurd, Dave Alpert and VFX expert Greg Nicotero.

The show will be set in L.A. during the early stages of the zombie apocalypse. Cliff Curtis stars as Sean Cabrera, a teacher who shares a son with his ex-wife. Kim Dickens from Sons of Anarchy’s is his co-worker and girlfriend Nancy, a guidance counselor at the school. Frank Dillane, Tom Riddle in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, is Nancy’s son Nick, a recovering addict, and Alycia Debnam Carey from Into the Woods is her daughter Ashley, who about to leave LA when the zombie horde hits.

The first batch of episodes will premiere late this summer with the second season airing next year.

The show is still untitled.
