“Dryclean Only” is a tag that has most of us putting that adorable black dress back on the rack. It’s an extra step that a lot of us would rather skip. But what if you could do your dry cleaning at home?

Made by Whirlpool, the SWASH Express Clothing Care System gets out wrinkles, gets out odors, and restores the fit of your clothes in only ten minutes. It saves you ironing time, and can even help to extend the life of your clothes. It won’t take the place of using an actual washing machine or the actual dry cleaner but it is perfect for those “in between” clothes. You know which ones I mean – you didn’t actually spill anything on them but they definitely could use a refresh.
How it works is you hang a garment, add a pod and, in 10 minutes, clothes emerge fresh and wrinkle-free. Reviews say it works well on silk, wool and knits but not heavy cottons, and it can’t deep-clean or bust stains.
The other draw backs? You have to be a heavy dry clean user for it to make sense. The Swash costs $499US or about what it would cost to dryclean about 125 shirts. And, at just over four feet tall and 80 pounds, you need to have the space to store it.
