Womenman-sleeping

Most of us think we’re pretty awesome for surviving on little sleep… but this might change your mind!

A 46 year old mother of 3 volunteered to take part in a sleep deprivation study for the Daily Mail to show what really happens to our bodies when we get less than the recommended eight hours… and the results were quite worrying.

As part of the experiment, she had a facial scan to analyse the quality of her skin beforehand.

On the first night, she slept for only four hours and the next day she noticed she had become quite forgetful and was losing her train of thought in conversations.

The second phase of the experiment involved spending the next five days with just six hours sleep per night, while still working throughout the week, and that’s when things got worse.

On top of feeling “tired, snappy, forgetful and tearful” and “constantly hungry”, her lack of sleep also left her looking much worse for wear.

“After just 30 hours sleep in the past 120, my pores have more than doubled in size and the red areas have increased by 50 per cent. No wonder my husband declares: ‘You look lousy’,” she said.

“My eyes have dark rings underneath and my skin is lacklustre, with pores so enlarged I can see them from a distance.”

“To top it all off, a couple of spots are beginning to develop on my chin.”

Yikes! Maybe we should all try to get those eight hours sleep every night!
