Cat Cafe Coming To Winnipeg

It’s a purr-fect hangout spot for cat lover’s (see what I did there?), Winnipeg’s first cat cafe is opening this summer!

The Concept

Miss J. La’s Fur Babies Cat Cafe and Adoption Centre (or just Fur Babies for short) is set to open soon in West Kildonan. Similar spots have opened up in other parts of Canada, but this will be the first one in Winnipeg. Visitors to the cafe will get to enjoy hot and cold beverages and tasty desserts with the company of feline friends. Rather than bring your own cat to the restaurant the cafe will be populated with about ten cats from local shelters. So not only is this going to be a great place to go and relax in the comforting company of cuddly cats, this cafe will potentially help animals without a home find a family!

The Location

Fur Babies will be opening up at 1099 Kingsbury avenue which is near Leila and McPhillips Avenue. Visitors will pay $10 cover to get into the cafe and have the opportunity to play with cafe’s cats while enjoying a little snack.

Get Involved

Love this concept? According to the cafe’s Facebook page, they’re looking for someone to partner with to do some baking for the cafe! The person would be required to do custom, cat-themed baking, and have all their food handling certificates in order. Otherwise you can swing by the cafe once it opens up later this year! Personally I love the idea of enjoying cats and coffee at the same time. I also think this is a cool way to help introduce rescued cats to a potential new owner. Would you dine at a cat cafe? Is this a cool way to meet a cat you might want to adopt? We will keep you posted when we find out exactly when the cafe is opening!
