What have you broken at work?

Let me preface by saying, it was NOT me who ruined the coffee maker at work. Though I am the person who will be blamed simply because I was the person who discovered it. The Keurig machine at work is not working in the most mysterious way.

Where’s that water going?

This morning around 7AM I went to make my second cup of coffee for the day. I made my first cup on my Keurig at home. I selected 10 ounces like I do every day. Waited for two minutes and grabbed the cup only to realize it felt strangely light. I looked inside and was shocked to see maybe two ounces of coffee. Thinking I’d pushed the wrong button, I hit the 10 ounce option again. Same thing happened! It’s weird the coffee machine isn’t working, but the strangest part is the water is disappearing! This Keurig machine has a tank on the side you fill with water. So I’m watching as 10 ounces of water leave the Keurig but only about two ounces come out! Where’s all that water going?

Call a repair man

After troubleshooting (unplugging the machine and plugging it back in followed by shaking it up-side-down over the sink) I could not detect the problem, nor could I figure out where all the water went. This remains a mystery, and in the wonderful world of 3:30 AM alarms, that second cup of coffee around 7:00 is pretty crucial.

How ’bout you?

Like I said, it wasn’t ME who ruined the coffee machine, though I will probably be blamed. Have you ever broken something at work accidentally? Was it expensive? Did it take a long time to replace? How did you break it to your boss or coworkers? I’d love to hear your story!
