Comebacks! Which band should be next?

Late 90s fangirls and boys rejoice! One of the quintessential boy bands from your youth are returning! The Backstreet Boys have announced a new, 10th album is in the works. All five members shared their news on their respective social channels to let fans know they have some new music coming. In fact, that music could be filling playlists around the world as early as August. The band has been together for more than twenty years, they recently announced a trial residency in Vegas, so what will the Backstreet Boys sound like in 2016? Perhaps a little twangy! Nick Carter tagged Florida Georgia Line (the country equivalent of a boy band) in a post when announcing new music was on the way from BSB.

Successful Comebacks

While some might say Backstreet Boys never really went away, they certainly never got back to the level of fame they had in the late 90s and early 2000s. Occasionally though, bands (or individuals from bands) end up coming back as big or bigger than they once were. Take Justin Timberlake. He left NSYNC, brought Sexy Back, but then kinda dropped off the radar. Seven years after releasing his second solo album, JT dropped The 20/20 Experience album and he was BACK in a BIG way with hits like Suit and Tie (Jay-Z collaboration) and Mirrors. It doesn’t just happen for pop artists. Remember the glory that was 90s Green Day? By 1997 and Nimrod Green Day peaked. Their 2000 album Warning was not a hit with critics (though I love it and think you should give the whole thing a listen), and Green Day very much fell off the radar. However, American Idiot launched Green Day from the punk world into full-on rock stardom, with hits like the title track American Idiot, Holiday, and Wake Me Up when September Ends saw the band attract fans who would never have given the band a second listen back in the days of Basketcase and When I Come Around.

Who Should Be Next?

With BSB working on new music, the Spice Girls trying to organize a new tour (though without two core members), and bands like Blink-182 putting out a new summer album and tour with a new member, who would you like to see return with new music?
