Would you wear THIS to help you break a bad habit?

When was the last time you tried to break a bad habit? Are you a nail biter? Do you want to quit smoking? Do you spend too much time sitting on your butt instead of exercising? If you’re planning on changing your ways, we have some good news! There’s a shocking new way to help you keep you motivated to break your bad habits!

Pavlok: The Shocking New Wearable

Pavlok helps you break habits by shocking you!

Meet Pavlok. The bracelet that shocks you! I’m guessing this takes it’s name by combining the famous salivating dog experiments by Pavlov and the word shock, which would be an unpleasant but memorable way to help stop you from doing things you’re not supposed to.

You set this up by downloading an app on your phone and choosing a habit you want to break. Pavlok then integrates with sensors in your phone, friends, and GPS to keep you on track with your goals. Pavlok will then administer a shock when it detects you doing an activity you are not supposed to. You can also flip the wristband into “manual” mode if you need to fess up and administer a shock for something that Pavlok didn’t detect yet.

The good news is you’re in control of the level of shock. This means it can be dialled into a pleasant little nudge, a persistent vibration, or a downright unpleasant shock.

Is this really necessary?

Have you successfully broken a bad habit? I used to drink four energy drinks a day and did that for about a year and a half. I ultimately quit cold turkey one day just because I recognized this probably wasn’t a good Habit and have yet to have even a SIP of an energy drink in almost four years.

What bad habit did you break and how did you do it?
