When it comes to keeping babies alive – especially very premature babies – some specialized equipment is required.

KiSS 102.3 is broadcasting live at CF Polo Park for Christmas for Kids Friday, December 9th, and Saturday, December 10th. Our goal is to raise $40,000 which is enough to buy only one of these specialized high-frequency jet ventilation (HFJV) is provided by the Bunnell Life Pulse High-Frequency Ventilator.

John Minski, the Respiratory Therapy Clinical Specialist at the HSC Children’s Hospital NICU, tells us how this important machine works, and why it’s so very important to the survival of the babies he cares for.

The Children’s Hospital in Winnipeg is the only pediatric facility between Toronto and Edmonton devoted to the special health care needs of children.

Over 1000 babies were admitted to the NICU last year so to say these machines are extremely important to Winnipegers is an understatement. In fact, there were so many premature babies born last year that they even had to rent 4 units from other cities.

We need your help to make sure that if any parent ever has to use the facilites at the Children’s Hospital, they’re top of the line. Children’s lives depend on it.

Call 204-953-KIDS (5437) or make your donation at KiSS1023.ca or Goodbear.ca. There’s even some great auctions you can bid on too!
