The Weeknd Leads 2022 Billboard Music Awards Nominations with 17 Nods

The nominations for the 2022 Billboard Music Awards are here, with The Weeknd as this year’s top contender, earning a total of 17 nominations which include, top artist, top Hot 100 artist, top male artist, and his ‘Save Your Tears’ collaboration with Ariana Grande is up for six awards.

Following closely behind with 14 nods, (also named this year’s leading female finalist) Doja Cat.  And with 13 nods, Justin Bieber, Ye (formerly known as Kanye West), and Olivia Rodrigo.

According to Billboard, “Justin Bieber is the third-most decorated artist in BBMA history, with 21 previous wins. He trails only Drake (29 wins) and Taylor Swift (25). All three of these artists are finalists in multiple categories this year, so these rankings could shift.”

The 2022 Billboard Music Awards will go live on Sunday May 15, inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, the first time since 2019.  The host for the year’s award show has not yet been announced.  Nick Jonas hosted last year while Kelly Clarkson hosted the three years before that.
